Formula D: Round 6, Seibon Driver Chris Forsberg Takes the Podium

The Formula Drift 2013 season is almost over. There is only one round left in the championship and things are becoming more intense than ever! The intensity was up to the roof as this round had the most protests and many of the top competitors were defeated early on in the competition.

Qualifying couldn’t have started any better for some Seibon Carbon drivers. Our very own Fredric Aasbo qualified 2nd and Chris Forsberg in 3rd, both with some of the highest speed records of the evening.

“Qualifying is a very important part of our event weekend,” said Aasbo, who has landed in the top-three of the qualifying ladder four times this season.

Other Seibon drivers that qualified at the top were Pat Mordaunt (8th) and Matt Powers (11th).

One could say Pat Mordaunt was on a role as he managed to get to the Consolation Round for 3rd place, the furthest he’s gone this season.  Unfortunately, his winning streak ended with Chris Forsberg prevailing in the Consolation Round, giving him the 3rd place finish in the podium.

On his journey to the podium, Chris Forsberg and his Seibon equipped Nissan 370z battled: Jeremy Lowe (Top 32), Justin Pawlak (Top 16), Dai Yoshihara (Top 8), and Michael Essa (Top 4).

This 3rd place finish put Chris Forsberg second in line for the championship with 474 points. Seibon Carbon driver Fredric Aasbo now stands third for the championship with 425 points. At the top of the championship is Michael Essa with 489.5 points.

The final round of Formula Drift 2013 will take place on October 11-12 at Irwindale Speedway, Ca.

It is difficult to predict who the champion will be since things can quickly change as they did this round.

We wish the best of luck to our drivers:

Chris Forsberg, Daigo Saito, Robbie Nishida, Matt Powers, Dave Briggs, Taka Aono, Conrad Grunewald, Darren ‘D-mac’ McNamara, Fredric Aasbo, Joon Maeng, Tony Angelo, Pat Mordaunt, Walker Wilkerson, and Ryan Tuerck.
